Frequently Asked Questions
Do you collect scrap RAM nationwide?
Yes, WEEEBuyRAM.co.uk provides free, fully insured collections across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. We cover all major cities including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast, and everywhere in between.
How do I get paid?
Payments are made by instant bank transfer after inspection, in accordance with the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013. Most customers receive payment the same day their RAM is collected and verified.
Do I need to provide ID?
Yes, a valid photo ID (driving licence or passport) and proof of address are legally required under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 before we can process payment. This protects both you and us.
Do you provide Waste Transfer Notes (WTNs)?
Yes, we issue a Waste Transfer Note (WTN) for every collection nationwide. This is your legal proof of proper disposal and is especially important for businesses. We retain copies for 2 years as required by law.
How long does payment take?
Once we've collected and verified your RAM at our facility, payment is typically processed within 2-4 hours. Most customers receive their money the same day.
What if my RAM is damaged or corroded?
We still accept damaged RAM, but heavily corroded, water-damaged, or broken modules may be re-quoted at a lower rate. Send us photos on WhatsApp if you're unsure – we'll give you an honest assessment.
Do you buy other computer parts?
We specialise in RAM as our core business, but we also accept CPUs, SSDs, and other valuable components. Contact us with what you have and we'll provide a quote.
How should I package RAM for collection?
RAM is relatively sturdy, but we recommend keeping modules in anti-static bags if you have them, and placing them in a sturdy box. Our driver will handle everything carefully from there.
Is there a minimum quantity for collection?
We typically require a minimum of 1kg for free collection, but we're flexible. Contact us with what you have – for smaller quantities, you may be able to post the RAM to us instead.
Can I drop RAM off at your premises?
Yes! You're welcome to visit our facility in Rochdale during business hours (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm). Call ahead so we can ensure someone is available to process your RAM immediately.
How are your prices determined?
RAM prices are based on current market rates for the precious metals and components they contain. Server RAM commands higher prices due to higher gold content. We update our rates regularly to stay competitive.
Are you insured?
Yes, we carry full goods-in-transit insurance and public liability insurance. Your RAM is protected from the moment we collect it until payment is made.
